Ingredients (6-8 servings):
500g of flour
1/2 sachet baking powder
5 g of salt
100 g granulated sugar
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 tbsp. orange essence
100g butter, softened
4 whole eggs
Rum essence
Icing sugar
Preparation:
In a salad bowl, mix the flour, the salt, the granulated sugar, the baking powder, the vanilla, the orange essence, the rum essence and the softened butter, cut into pieces.
Start kneading and add eggs.
Knead the mixture until you obtain homogenous dough.
Make a ball, cover with a tea towel and let it rest for 30 minutes minimum.
Divide the dough into 4 balls.
Roll out the dough with a rolling pin on a few millimeters thick.
Cut the dough using a roller into strips or diamond shapes of a width of 4 cm. Incise the center of each diamond.
Pour some cooking oil into a pan, heat it without letting it smoke and cook the dough on both sides, one or two diamonds at a time, before draining them on paper towels.
Sprinkle with icing sugar and… Bon appétit!
